This took place over a five to ten minute period.

Unfortunately the day got worse after being introduced to xxxxxxx (the owner of xxxxxxx) elderly mother and son as I began to practice one of my original Christian songs, " Love and Light. After the very pleasent meeting, xxxxxxxx returned five minutes later to inform me that he heard from his "xxxxxxxxxxx" who are going to xxxxxx his and xxxxxx ( xxxxx the down town xxxxxxxxx) new pet project to help the homeless. ( sounds like the concept and content of witch it based on my stolen intellectual property - this has happened to me repeatedly in SC - my creativity and hard work being pirated by " up standing members of the civic community."  According to xxxxxx the funding of which some may he used to help me is going to be made available xxxxxxxxxx 1.

Personally I think that this is just part of the on-going scams and con games (felony vigilante gang stalking crimes to protect the underground economy, crime inc. what is known locally as "the party") the locals of Santa Cruz have been playing on me under the guys of " its a joke," " its a game," " its they get your anger to come out," " no jews,"

The day ended with another classic " team sport," Crime Inc. party con. When I got up to go to the bathroom a " street scum," with a cart full of lice spider covered trash items who just happened to look like Paul Savasky took over the benches were I usually set. He spread out his trash objects all over the benches and sidewalk setting up a display of trash to sell, ate donated food, thru his bottles cans, and trash all over the street, planter, side walk, smoked cigarettes, pot, got drunk, acted schizophrenic, threatened to kill me four times all for effect of the mocking Westside/Eastside gang, fathers and children walking by more Crime Inc. mind games. Finally the City Rangers showed up, ( one of the dumbest and laziest ones,) and told him he could not sell his stuff on the side walk. POLICE OFFICERS GIVEN NEW PLAY BOOK IN DEALING WITH MENTAL ILLNESS

LIVE OAK >> In Santa Cruz County, deputies get 200-250 calls a month for “5150” — the section of the law that authorizes an officer to involuntarily confine a person suspected to have a mental disorder that makes them a danger to themselves or a danger to others.

As a result, local law enforcement agencies are increasingly responsible for de-escalating highly volatile mental health emergencies. In 2016, two high-profile, officer-involved shootings in Santa Cruz County underscored the difficulty of such interventions and the potential for tragedy.

On Oct. 16, Sean Arlt, a 32-year-old father with a mental illness, was shot and killed by a Santa Cruz police officer after he threatened police officers with a 5-foot metal bow rake.

On Nov. 19, Luke Smith, 15, was fatally shot by a Santa Cruz County sheriff’s deputy after he stabbed his father and uncle in Corralitos. The teenager had ingested LSD and was reacting violently and erratically to the drug.

A different approach pioneered by police in Memphis has been shown to improve outcomes and reduce injuries. Crisis Intervention Team training involves a community partnership of law enforcement, mental health professionals, mental health consumers and their families; it’s been adopted by communities around the nation with positive results.

On Monday, Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Chief Deputy Craig Wilson introduced a roomful of law enforcement officers to the first day of crisis intervention training. The goal of the training, Wilson said, is to give officers new tools when they get a call about an individual experiencing a mental health crisis.

Members of the National Alliance on Mental Illness Santa Cruz and Vets for Vets attended along with law enforcement. The Sentinel was allowed to observe four hours of the three-day training.

If deadly use of force can be avoided, “that is the best possible outcome,” Wilson said.

It took nine months for the state Commission on Peace Officer Standards and Training to certify this course, which means officers completing it can keep up with state-mandated training requirements.

Pam Rogers-Wyman, who heads Santa Cruz County Adult Mental Health, described symptoms of schizophrenia such as hallucinations, disorganized thinking and restlessness and showed a video clip of Nobel Prize-winning mathematician John Nash speaking with his son; both Nash and his son lived with schizophrenia.

Rogers-Wyman asked those in attendance to identify symptoms seen in the video, which included agitation, staring, responding to questions in an incoherent fashion and withdrawal.

Rogers-Wyman also used Robin Williams’ performance in “The Fisher King” to exhibit symptoms of psychosis and Bradley Cooper’s performance in “The Silver Linings Playbook” to illustrate the behaviors of someone with bipolar disorder.

Attendees received a handout on psychiatric medications listing 100 drugs, generic and brand names. Many medications have side effects, Rogers-Wyman pointed out, some causing insomnia and another restlessness, making an interview difficult.

Later in the training, county social workers discussed psychotic episodes, anxiety disorders, trauma and post-traumatic stress disorders. Mental health experts covered how to intervene when a teen is considering suicide and how “active listening” is a better approach than saying “calm down.”

Retired police officers described how to respond to someone with symptoms of mental illness and ways to de-escalate the situation.

Police have had three tools: arrest, a citation or saying “go away,” said Sgt. Mark Eveleth of the Santa Cruz Police Department. He said he appreciated having Danielle Long, a county mental health client specialist, ride along with him and share her knowledge of community resources to help people they encounter.
